NSW: Bushwalker rescued after 21-hour ordeal
A scout leader has endured 21 hours stuck in the New South Wales Blue Mountains witha broken ankle.
The 42-year-old Sydney woman was winched to safety this afternoon after a series ofthunderstorms delayed an attempt to rescue her last night.
The woman, two other scout leaders and six scouts were forced to camp overnight aftershe was injured while walking on a rough track below Sublime Point, in the Jamison Valley,south-east of Leura.
The group was joined by a group of ambulance paramedics, Blue Mountains Police RescueSquad officers and Rural Fire Service volunteers who had walked in to assess the woman'scondition and help in her rescue.
She was flown in a stable condition to Nepean Hospital where she'll undergo emergencyorthopaedic surgery.
The scouting group and rescue personnel had walked out of the bush following the helicopterrescue.
